A new Vine group is available. If you are or want to be a Chaplain, do or are interested in Pastoral work, write or comment on Chaplaincy, or seek the services of a Chaplin the new group is called "Chaplain's Corner".

You can access it by clicking on the "groups" icon on your News Vine tool bar. Use "Chaplain" or Chaplain's Corner" as key words.

It is a public group. Membership is open to anyone who remains on topic, and is respectful of others.

Peace and Blessing to one and all.

The purpose of starting this group is to expand the understanding of what Chaplains do, what you can do for others, what Chaplains can do for you, and get you access if needed to Chaplaincy Service.

The purpose of the group is not to disrespect anyone or any systems or methodologies of belief non- belief, or abstention from belief. This is not a doctrinal debate forum.

It is a place where human beings can meet and learn how to help each other. It is a place where people in need can come to find confidential help for difficult problems of the human spirit.

This is not a group for contentiousness, or disrespect. It is a place where all who show respect will be encouraged to come and participate. Those who are looking for a fight, to disrupt, derail, snark, troll, or cause trouble will be barred from return.

We are here to be a resource for one another. Not to create disharmony.

I look forward to this society of fellowship which will set the tone of how the Vine is indeed a place to get smarter, and kinder. Sooner or later, we will all need help, and all be called upon to help. This is the place to address such matters.

Peace and Blessings. Enoch.

Dearest MJL, the pain of loss is what makes us care about others, and more able to feel other's pain. It makes us grateful for what we have, and long to help others. You are a wonderful friend, and I thank you, very much.

I feel the same way for GoodBen. And yet, I know this 'trial by fire' will make him a stronger, better person in the end. He has always been a compassionate man, now he will be more so-- and will have a depth to him that no one can harm. By having suffered this terrible, shocking loss, he will be a better husband and father someday. He may not see that yet, but someday, he will.

I often think it was necessary for me to lose my family to really grow to understand other people's sorrow. I can't help but hope that my son and husband will be left to me for a while, so I that I can enjoy their company for a long time. I can't help but hope that I get to go first, so I don't have to live through losing them...

I guess part of what I'm so sad about, with Ben, is knowing that this could so easily happen to my own son.

Dearest Enoch-- thank you-- you help so much. I love GoodBen. He is the son of my heart, as Susan was a member of my family. I'm starting to clean out "his" room, so there will be room for him, when he wants to come for a visit! ;-)

Funny how junk expands to fill the space available for its retention...

Dear Friend Dowser: Good Ben has lost his biological Mother. Nothing can replace her, or should.

Yet he has, even before this untimely passage already gained a second Mother, and a second home in you and yours.

This is so much to your credit. hugs.

Dear Friend Kara Shalee: In this life we all have things to teach, and learn one from another.

I long held that it puts a smile of the Divine Countenance when we here work together in harmony, mutual respect and fellowship towards commonly held values and shared goals.

This is why I join all group members in celebrating your inclusion as a charter member here.

We look forward to learning from you.

You walk the walk, Rabbi. Thank you, as I am unable to learn from those who only talk the talk. Of course, it is my own inadequacies. And, here is where your tolerant approach and those of others in the group will help to correct this deficiency, one of many, in myself.

Dear Friend Grump in NM: A close business partner over the decades and I used to camp out in the Sonoran and Mojave deserts during February. Not a bad place to be, given that we came out of places like upstate NY and northwestern MA. Winters in the Sonoran are far different than winters in the North East USA.

Both of us are urban dwellers. At night, in the desert, if you listen closely, you can hear nothing. Its an amazing experience to City Folk. Calm, Peaceful Serene.

Every fiber in your body relaxes. You can feel it.

In Chaplains Corner we strive to help people get those feelings of peace, calm and serenity.

Peace and Blessings. Enoch.

Enoch,

My husband and I like to sit on our deck in the early , early hours of the day. 1-3 am. It is so quiet and peaceful.

My husband said once: "Listen" I said , To what?

He said "The Silence, it really is golden" I alway remember that morning, so when it is very calm and quiet, I soak it in.

Abraham Maslow calls it a "peak experience". The feeling of oneness with one's surroundings -- when everything becomes as it should be -- while one sits in an awe inspiring place or when one opens one's mind to what is.

I am not referring to Jay's Diner or the rodent burgers. That is a different feeling -- a crunchy sorta feeling.

Likewise, Dowser. I've followed Newsvine on and off for several years - since 2006 or 2007. On a couple of occasions I was absent for long enough that I forgot my user ID and had to re-register.

In any event, I've been participating more frequently here in the past few months, and I have found a number of kind, decent, and worthwhile people.

People like you and Enoch, and Sydney - 5, and others, remind me to behave more like the person I ought to be.

Dear Friend Jackie: I do plan to continue activity outside the group.

The function of the group is to work together to build up the body of articles and posts so that when things which affect one and all, without respect to ideological perspective (major life events, births, graduations, life passage celebrations, marriages, divorces, illnesses, recoveries, and transitions from this life) all Viners who want will have a place to go. Other goals here are to build matrix's of support when and in the way people need it. Conclaves of friendship and fellowship are to be constructed and used here.

Life will smile on us and test us to the limits, sometimes beyond those boundaries. We all need to deal with that. Hopefully, here we Viners will need to go it less alone.

Here all are welcomed. Here all are respected. Here all are included. Membership is a given to all who apply. This is a public group. Banning will only occur if needed to prevent the group and its stated functions from being hijacked by malevolent posts. That sort of thing is for elsewhere, not here.

Peace and Blessings, Enoch.

Dear Friend,

This a wonderful idea for a group. There are so many other types of groups, but few that allow the expression of a spiritual side, unless one is arguing they're own beliefs. Although not a chaplain, my Dad was a prison chaplain, and I've been blessed to be able to continue contact with some of the prisoners he was doing Bibles studies with, and even their families, after he passed away.

Dear Friend Rescue Dogs: You honor the life work of your beloved Father, and preserve his memory by what you do for those he served. In my book, degrees, certifications or not, you are a Chaplain in the very finest sense of that term.

Credentialism is the last refuge of a weak mind. I have earned graduate and post graduate degrees all over my office wall. I am no stranger to, or a detractor of higher education. I have been adjunct faculty at Universities, Colleges, Institutes and Seminary's in three continents and in five languages. Training helps.

That said, it is what you do with what you have that qualifies or disqualifies you from consideration as a Chaplain, or any other profession. The term "Malpractice" is in the dictionary for a reason. Every field is replete with those who earned degrees from accredited institutions of learning who malpractice. Similarly, those who do things very well do not always posses such degrees, or diplomas in the fields of what they do.

My point here is that while training and demonstration to the satisfaction of those already respected in a field are important. So is innovation. Fields get started, and reinvigorated by the people who on the surface seem under qualified for them.

At heart, I am a good old American pragmatist. If something works, if some one makes things work that matters more than licenses, degrees, certifications etc.

I consider you a colleague of full standing s a Chaplain. I join all here to warmly welcome you here into Chaplains Corner.

Peace and Blessings. And a complete and speedy recovery.

Enoch.

Stop The Hypocrisy

Enoch, I received your invitation today. Thank you. And in spite of my religious views (which you would likely find to be controversial to say the least), I am going to do the Jungian thing (the duality of Man) and accept your gracious invitation.

Dear Friend Stop the Hypocrisy: Don't worry about your views on religion being problematic. I stopped worrying a long time ago about my views on religion being problematic to others. To each their own. What ever works best for you is best for you.

We all all in the life together. to be there for each other. To teach, learn from, support and be helped by each other.

When I said I wanted all to feel welcome, I didn't mean I only want some to feel welcome. I meant all, period. No exclusions what so ever.

We are Viners all. We need a place to go when we need a friend. We need a place to go where we can be a friend.

We need a place to go where we can get smarter, and help others the same way.

Hopefully, Chaplains Corner will be that place. With you among us, we are off to a great start.

Thanks for gracing us with your presence as a Charter Member.

Yaashir Cohach gam Lecvha. Kol ha Cavod.

Peace and Blessings, Enoch.
